HI THERE,
i'm candace
IT'S NICE TO MEET YOU!
it's me!
I AM A MOTHER AND PHOTOGRAPHER RESIDING IN VICTORIA, BC. I LIVE FOR THE LITTLE THINGS IN LIFE; SNUGGLES WITH MY DAUGHTER IN THE QUIET STILL OF AN EARLY MORNING, WHEN MY COFFEE IS MADE JUST RIGHT, STARGAZING, SUNNY CRISP AUTUMN DAYS, BACKYARD BBQ'S AT DUSK...
what makes you feel something?
Photographs are these enchanting little time capsules
They hurl you back into a previous dimension, connecting you to any moment of your life; the colossal ones, the subtle, intimate ones… The smell of your Grandmother’s baking, the sound of your best friend's laugh - these tangible memories anchored to feelings immediately inundate your core. It’s one of the closest things we have to magic and that’s what I love about photography - the way you can capture a single occasion that lasts forever through an image, and not just a memory - a feeling. I’ve found that nothing brings me more joy than capturing a photo that compels people to feel something.
I hunger for nostalgia and love romanticizing the everyday
I am a Pisces after all. As a kid, taking pictures was how I documented my life and made sense of the world around me - it was also my way of storytelling. The spark for being behind the lens was always there but the fire really began to burn in 2018 when my father passed away. I had the sublime privilege of spending his final days with him at his side. Family and friends all gathered for ten days and so I did what I knew - record everything.

Your time capsule doesn’t have to only include the perfect moments
Life is far from perfect and I think we can all agree that’s what makes it so beautiful. It is perfectly imperfect, just like each and every one of us having this divine earthly experience. Now while I do appreciate the glorious, awe-inspiring, shout it from the rooftop type of moments - I take delight in the mundane. The moments that most often get overlooked yet collectively are woven together to create the fabric of our lives.
